A former number-one hostess from Kabukicho goes home to Tottori and sets out to build Japan's best cabaret club, not as a hostess but running the floor.
Ayane Ichijo was the number-one hostess in Kabukicho, Tokyo's great nightlife district, until an incident made her leave. She goes home to Asahimachi, the small entertainment quarter of Yonago in Tottori that locals call Himachi, and idles about the house until her mother loses patience and orders her to help at the family bar, Snack Kayoko. There her skill with customers brings the place back to life in a single night. Then Jun, a former classmate who claims to be her ex-boyfriend, turns up, and the two set out from Himachi, drawing in the whole country as they go, to build the best cabaret club in Japan. Ayane means to do it not as a hostess but as one of the black-suited staff who run the floor. The series is due to stream in winter 2026, and how the story unfolds has not yet been published.

Why it matters
Himachi takes the cabaret club, the hostess bar where women are paid for their company, out of Tokyo and sets it in a small entertainment quarter in Tottori, where the customers are neighbours and the family business is a snack bar. Its premise turns on a woman who was the best at the work stepping to the other side of it, into management. That casts the old questions of the night economy in a new light: who profits from a woman's charm, what the work costs the women who do it, and whether a club can be run with them in mind. The manga's author has said she once worked in a bar in her own home town, and that she wrote the dangers of the trade into the story so that readers would not carry away only its glamour. Mei Nagano, producing for the first time, has called its core universal: what people want, and how they live.
