Love in Japan, Without Losing Yourself

6 months · US$7,500

What this Program is for

Dating across cultures is exciting precisely because the rules are not shared. What is direct at home reads as abrupt here; what is considerate reads as distant; affection, conflict and commitment carry assumptions nobody says out loud. Love Across Cultures is six months for understanding that environment clearly enough to love in it without becoming someone else. Not a course in being more Japanese. A way of staying yourself while understanding him.

Is this you?

For international women dating or partnering across cultures in Japan who want support thinking through communication, expectations, intimacy, family assumptions, conflict and identity.

You cannot tell if he is shy or not interestedAmbiguity is cultural and personal at once. You learn to read which is which.
Every argument turns into a lecture on cultureDifference can explain a misunderstanding. It should not erase your boundary.
You are softening yourself to fitAdaptation is not the same as disappearing. The Program draws the line between them.

What the months cover

Mapping the differenceYour assumptions and his, side by side: affection, time, family, money, commitment, sex. Named before they collide.
Directness and ambiguityHow to be clear here without being harsh, and how to hear what is being said under what is not.
Affection and expectationsHow love is shown when it is not said, and what you are allowed to ask for anyway.
Conflict and boundariesDisagreeing across cultures without either person losing face or self. Practiced in advisory sessions.
Intimacy languageCloseness and Tantra sessions, and the vocabulary for desire, consent and pace that cross-cultural couples rarely build.
Practice and shared designDate-like practice, a portrait session where it fits, and a design for the relationship you actually want here.

A month inside the Program

A sessionTwo private sessions a month in English: advisory conversation and experiential practice, with the perspective of a man who has lived across cultures.
Between sessionsOne real conversation you have been translating in your head instead of having.
The reviewA mid-point review at month three and a shared-design review at the end. A current partner is never contacted.

Your first session

A mapping exercise, and an oddly relieving one. You describe a recent disagreement in as much detail as you can bear, and Yamato separates it into three columns: what is a difference of language, what is a difference of cultural script, and what is simply a difference between two people who would have disagreed in any country. Most couples find the third column larger than they assumed, which is good news — it is the only column with ordinary solutions. Yamato has lived some version of your situation from the other side, and when asked he will say which side he is on, including when it is not yours. You leave with the three columns written down and no homework, because a map needs a fortnight to be argued with.

What you take with you

You leave able to read the environment, say what you mean in a way that lands here, keep your boundaries when culture is used against them, and talk about intimacy with a vocabulary you both share. Compatibility is not guaranteed. Understanding is, on your side.

What the fee covers, and what it does not

Twelve sessions, six months, near US$625 each. Both halves — advisory conversation and experiential practice — are held by one person who has lived some version of your situation from the other side, and that is the part which cannot be bought separately anywhere. The fee covers you. If your partner joins for a session it is quoted as couples work rather than added quietly, and it never happens without you both agreeing first.

Two markets, two rate schedules

Each Program is shown in one currency per page: US dollars here, Japanese yen on the Japanese page, on Moonlight’s published rate schedule where every ¥10,000 of the domestic reference price is treated as US$100. It is a service-rate schedule rather than a claim about the exchange rate, and it reflects bilingual service and international coordination. The reasons are set out on Pricing, and the final amount always appears on your formal quotation before anything is booked.

What it does not promise

Moonlight does not define one culture as correct or guarantee relationship compatibility. The goal is better understanding and more intentional choices.

How a Program begins

A Program begins with a private consultation, not a purchase. Fit, aspiration, pace and scope are discussed first, and a Program is only agreed when both people believe it is the right shape. Every session inside a Program keeps the same rules as any Moonlight Experience: your Desire & Boundary Map, continuing consent, and the Landing Ritual. Confidentiality covers the whole journey, including the fact of your participation. A Program participant is not automatically a Member, and a Member is not automatically a Program student; the two relationships remain separate and are never bundled. Fees are settled on a formal invoice according to the schedule agreed at the start.
