Consent, Boundaries & Care

A preference you wrote down last month, an answer on a profile, a booking from the spring: none of these is permission for tonight. Moonlight treats consent as something that belongs to the present tense. What you were curious about once is useful context. It is never a standing instruction.

In practice this means the same question gets asked again, and that repetition is the point. Being asked “still yes?” on the day is not Moonlight forgetting what you said. It is Moonlight refusing to assume it.

Moonlight keeps four things apart on purpose: your standing preferences (what you generally enjoy), your standing boundaries (what is never on the table), the booking snapshot (what was agreed for this specific Experience), and consent for the actual session (what is true right now, in the room).

The layers only move in one direction. A boundary can narrow the booking; a booking can narrow the session. Nothing lower down can widen what sits above it. This is what makes it safe to be curious on paper without being committed in the room.

You can pause, decline, change pace or move back to a simpler form of the Experience at any point, and you never have to justify the change. There is a stop word, a slow-down word and a non-verbal signal agreed in advance, because speaking is not always easy in the moment.

Saying so is part of the Experience working, not a sign of it failing. Discomfort, pain or anxiety are never something to push through quietly, and the time never ends abruptly because you changed your mind: it lands, the way every Moonlight evening lands.
