A live-in couple in Mumbai, filmed at the scale of grocery lists and bedtime arguments.
Kavya Kulkarni, from Nagpur, and Dhruv Vats, from Delhi, live together in a flat in Mumbai. The series follows them at the scale of ordinary days and long conversations: a lazy Sunday that social media makes Kavya want to liven up, a morning rush that spoils both their moods, a sleepless night of mosquitoes that turns into a talk about exes, a late night out at a fair. At the end of the first season, in a vineyard, Kavya admits that she does not know what she wants to do with her life.
In the second season Kavya is promoted while Dhruv quits his job and drifts, and the imbalance starts fights. On a work trip Kavya is drawn to another man and wonders whether Dhruv is right for the long haul. At a friend's wedding a moment of intimacy turns into an argument about where they stand, and they talk it through on the way home.
The third season separates them. A research fellowship takes Dhruv to Bangalore, where he makes friends at once, while Kavya is lonely in Mumbai. Visits home show them their parents growing old, and Dhruv's mother, packing up his childhood home in Delhi, presses him to marry. Together again, they find their lives out of sync; a wedding ring causes tension, and sad news pushes Kavya to think about moving back to Nagpur.
When the fourth and final season begins they have spent fourteen months apart, she working from her parents' home in Nagpur, he in a job in Finland. They reunite on a holiday in Kerala, where Kavya spends her thirtieth birthday alone because Dhruv is stuck on a work call. He decides to come home for good; she tells her company she will leave unless she gets her Mumbai role back. They rent a flat together again, but the new start goes badly: a doctor finds a nerve compression in Kavya's back, she is ordered to rest instead of starting her job, and Dhruv struggles at work. When both sets of parents visit, the talk turns to marriage. At a party held for no clear reason, Kavya takes Dhruv out on the balcony and hands him a ring. The series ends with their engagement, the two families gathered in the living room.

Why it matters
Little Things is about the part of love most screen romances skip: the middle, after the falling and before any wedding, when two people have to keep choosing each other through work, distance, illness and plain boredom. It began in 2016 as fifteen-minute episodes on Dice Media's YouTube channel, and Netflix took it on from the second season. Kavya and Dhruv live together unmarried in Mumbai, and the series treats that as ordinary, while visits home and a mother's pressure to marry show the older expectations around them. The drama is carried almost entirely by conversation: who earns more, who wants what, whether a long separation means they love each other less or have only forgotten how much. The question it leaves is modest and hard: what it takes to stay with someone when nothing is going wrong.
