Storyline

A mafia heir and his bodyguard; the BL that turned a Thai genre into a global tour.
Kinn Theerapanyakun, second son and heir of the main branch of a Bangkok crime family, runs from a deal with the Italian mafia gone wrong into the back of a bar, where the bartender and underground fighter Porsche Kittisawasd fights off his pursuers for a fee. Porsche is raising his younger brother, Porchay, alone, and their uncle's gambling debts threaten the house their dead parents left them. When Kinn's father, Korn, has Kinn recruit him as a bodyguard, Porsche takes the job.
Inside the family compound he trains as a bodyguard, befriends Pete, head bodyguard to Kinn's eccentric older brother Tankhun, and catches the eye of Vegas, Kinn's cousin and heir of the rival minor branch. When Vegas has him drugged at an auction, Kinn rescues him, then sexually assaults him while he is still drugged; later Kinn asks his forgiveness. Kidnapped together and stranded in the wild, the two grow close, and Kinn is injured shielding Porsche. They become lovers in secret. Kinn's younger brother Kim, a pop star, courts Porchay while investigating the brothers, and their parents' deaths begin to point back at the Theerapanyakuns.
The minor branch moves. Kinn's supposedly dead former lover, Tawan, resurfaces as Vegas's ally and kidnaps Porchay; a bodyguard, Big, dies protecting Porsche; abandoned by Vegas, Tawan takes his own life. Pete, sent undercover, is captured and tortured by Vegas, and the two form a bond. Forced to explain himself, Kinn reveals the relationship to his family. Porsche learns that Kinn first recruited him on Korn's orders, his uncle tells him his parents were murdered rather than killed in a crash, and Korn reveals that Porsche's mother was his foster sister. In the last episode Korn collapses, apparently poisoned, and is reported dead. The minor branch makes its bid for power. But Korn has staged his death, and he kills his brother Gun, Vegas's father. Porsche's mother is alive, her memory gone; Korn says he has hidden her all these years from Gun, who had sexually abused her. Pete leaves the family's service to stay with Vegas, and Korn names Porsche head of the minor branch.

Kinn’s story
On his father's orders, Kinn recruits Porsche, the bartender who fought off his pursuers, as a bodyguard. After Vegas has Porsche drugged at an auction, Kinn rescues him, then sexually assaults him while he is still drugged. Stranded with him in the wild, Kinn asks his forgiveness and takes a bullet for him, and they become lovers in secret. When Porsche is caught spying on Tawan, Kinn's supposedly dead ex, Kinn imprisons him; later, to free him, he reveals their relationship to his family. When Porsche learns he was recruited on Korn's orders, Kinn leaves the compound with him and Porchay. In the finale, with his father reported dead, he fights off his uncle and Vegas until Porsche comes to his rescue, and afterwards, at a party on a boat, he confesses his feelings.

Porsche’s story
Their uncle's gambling debts threaten the house that Porsche and his younger brother, Porchay, were left by their parents, so Porsche takes Kinn's bodyguard job for the money. Drugged at an auction on Vegas's orders, he is sexually assaulted by Kinn; stranded with him in the wild, he forgives him, and they become lovers in secret. Kinn imprisons him for spying on Tawan, and a fellow bodyguard, Big, dies protecting him. Then he learns that Kinn recruited him on Korn's orders and that his parents were murdered, but when told where to find their killer, he cannot go through with it. In the finale he tells Kinn he is on no family's side but his own, saves him from Vegas, finds his mother alive but without her memory, and is made head of the minor branch.

Vegas’s story
To provoke his cousin Kinn, Vegas has Porsche drugged and taken at an auction. He plots against the main family with Kinn's former lover, Tawan, then abandons him, and Tawan takes his own life. When Pete goes undercover among his people, Vegas captures and tortures him, then hides with him, and a bond grows; Pete chooses to stay. When he takes his frustration with his father out on Pete, Pete escapes; for a chance to apologise, Vegas helps Porsche find the truth. In the finale he joins his father's attack and is about to shoot Kinn when Porsche stops him. Korn kills his father. Shot but alive, Vegas tells Pete, who has resigned to stay by him, that he is no longer his pet.

Why it matters
KinnPorsche took Thai BL, romance between men usually told gently, and set it inside a crime family ruled by violence and money, and audiences far beyond Thailand followed: its first episode topped iQIYI's charts in 191 territories, and the cast went on a world tour. Its romance runs on inequality. Porsche is poor and in debt, Kinn pays his wages and commands his days, and their relationship begins with an assault the story asks to be forgiven. That is the issue it puts in front of anyone watching: how much of the pull of a dark romance depends on power that would be called abuse anywhere else. It is also a series in which two men's desire drives the plot, and in which a mafia heir is openly gay without that being his problem. What it leaves open is whether love can be real when one person can always buy or command the other.
