Love Is Blind, created by Chris Coelen and hosted by Nick and Vanessa Lachey, asks whether people can fall in love without seeing each other. For ten days single men and women talk in 'pods', small rooms divided by a translucent wall, and anyone may propose at any time; couples meet face to face only once engaged. They then spend a week at a resort, move into the same apartment complex, meet each other's families, and about four weeks later walk to an altar where each decides whether to say 'I do'.

The first season was filmed in Atlanta in the autumn of 2018 and released in February 2020. Eight couples got engaged; six were followed. Cameron, a data scientist, and Lauren felt a spark early in the pods. Barnett courted three women at once before proposing to Amber, a former tank mechanic in debt; Jessica, who had also fallen for him, turned back to Mark, ten years younger and devoted to her. Giannina proposed to Damian. At the resort in Mexico Carlton told Diamond he is bisexual, and the fight that followed, over that, his silence about it and the insults he threw, ended their engagement. Back in Atlanta Giannina and Damian fought about sex, family and communication, and his parents declined to meet her.

At the weddings in November 2018, Giannina said yes and Damian said no. Kelly turned Kenny down. Jessica walked away from Mark. Amber and Barnett married after a long pause from him, and Lauren and Cameron married, Lauren wiping away his tears during his vows. At the reunion Giannina and Damian were together again; they split for good in early 2021. Lauren and Cameron and Amber and Barnett are still married, and both couples have since had children. The American show has run for ten seasons and been remade in eleven other territories, Japan among them.
