Lilli Funke, an auditor from Germany, flies to Mallorca to see her younger sister, Valeria, known as Valle. Their mother came from the island and died when Lilli was eighteen and Valle ten, and Lilli has looked after her ever since. Valle is now engaged to Manu, a Frenchman she met four and a half months ago. They plan to open a bed and breakfast, she has already put her inheritance into it, and she wants to sell the house their mother left them, half of which is Lilli's. Lilli refuses. At a nightclub she meets its manager, Tom Sommer, another German, and they begin an affair.
A property investor, Nick Unterwalt, offers 900,000 euros for the house, and a valuer Tom brings in tells Lilli to accept. Then the story stops adding up. Manu does not work at the hotel he named. His former girlfriend, Bea, tells Lilli that he swindled her and is doing the same to Valle, who will not hear it. Lilli learns that the land for the bed and breakfast was never for sale, and that a luxury resort is planned on the sisters' property. At a birthday party on Nick's estate she finds Manu, Tom and the valuer all in his circle. Among Tom's things are an envelope addressed to his real name, Tobias Winter, and a folder of photographs of both sisters. He admits he sabotaged her water pipe and arranged the theft of her bag. Not everything was a lie, he says.
Valle, beginning to doubt Manu, goes to see Bea and finds her dead in the bath; the police treat it as suicide. When Valle confronts Manu she is held at gunpoint on a clifftop, and Nick's wife, Girasol, orders Lilli to sign. Tom, who has already called the police, tells Lilli to sign to buy time, then wrests Manu's gun away and leaps from the cliff into the sea with her and the papers. Manu and Girasol are arrested, and Tom says he will turn himself in. A year later Lilli comes back. Valle has turned their mother's house into a bed and breakfast, and Tom is waiting.

Lilli’s story
Lilli has looked after Valle since their mother died, when Lilli was eighteen and Valle ten. On Mallorca she finds her sister engaged to Manu after four and a half months and set on selling their mother's house. Lilli refuses and checks his story, while falling for Tom; on the word of his valuer, she agrees to Nick's offer. Then she learns that a resort is planned on the land, that Tom is one of Nick's people, and that he kept photographs of both sisters. She keeps going back to him. With Valle held at gunpoint on a clifftop, she signs on Tom's advice, and he jumps into the sea with her and the papers. A year later she returns to find Valle running a bed and breakfast in their mother's house, and Tom waiting.

Tom’s story
Tom is one of Nick's people, and Lilli is his assignment: if the sisters sign their land over, Nick's wife, Girasol, will give him a villa. He seduces Lilli, sabotages her water pipe, arranges the theft of her bag and brings in a valuer who tells her to sell. When she finds an envelope addressed to his real name, Tobias Winter, and a folder of photographs of both sisters, he admits it all and insists that not everything was a lie. He helps the sisters confront Manu. On the clifftop, with Valle at gunpoint, he has Lilli sign to buy time, then wrests the gun from Manu and jumps into the sea with her and the papers. He has already called the police, and says he will turn himself in. A year later he is waiting for her.

Valeria’s story
Valle was ten when their mother died, and Lilli brought her up. Four and a half months after meeting Manu she is engaged to him, has put her inheritance into the bed and breakfast they plan, and wants to sell her mother's house as well. She will not hear Lilli's warnings about him, and she signs Nick's contract. Doubt comes late. She learns of the other women Manu has courted, goes to see his former girlfriend, Bea, and finds her dead. When she confronts Manu she is taken to a clifftop and held at gunpoint to make Lilli sign. Tom's leap into the sea with Lilli and the papers ends the scheme, and Manu is arrested. A year later Valle welcomes her sister back to the island, to the bed and breakfast she has opened in their mother's house.

Why it matters
Fall for Me is built on romance fraud, the con in which a stranger learns what someone longs to hear and says it until she signs. The film catches two sisters in the same scheme from opposite sides. Valle trusts a fiancé whom Lilli sees through at once; Lilli, for all her suspicion, falls for the man sent to handle her. Behind both seductions is a property deal, the house their dead mother left them bought cheaply for a resort, so that affection and land change hands in one transaction. The film is at its most honest when it shows that seeing a con clearly is no protection against wanting what it offers. Its ending lets the con man who confessed stay in Lilli's life. The question it leaves is harder than its plot: whether a feeling produced as part of a job can become real, and what believing it costs before it does.
