Two sequels from pink-film master Hideo Jojo: a married woman and a shy bookshop worker submit to the same master.
In the first of the two films, Meguro works in advertising, is engaged to Nozomi, a dentist who refuses anything unconventional in bed, and cannot stop chasing women. Promising himself one last fling, he pursues Akino Seo, a demure married woman, and they begin an affair. Months later her husband, Seo, the author of a book on the sex lives of royalty, confronts him with photographs. He does not want revenge. He wants the affair to continue, on conditions: bolder places, harder play, a woman with no taboos, every encounter reported to him in words and pictures, nothing without Akino's consent, and no injury, illness or pregnancy. Meguro complies. Akino, hesitant at first, comes to enjoy it. Seo sends a collar, and she begins to call Meguro master. When the lovers use the Seos' own bedroom, Seo watches the recording from his hidden cameras and that night sleeps with his wife for the first time in a long while. Meguro realises he is jealous, and in love. Nozomi sees through him and breaks off the engagement; Seo ends the arrangement without explanation; Akino leaves because she is pregnant. Two years later, married to Nozomi after all and expecting a child, Meguro sees Akino across a level crossing with a baby in a pram. She smiles.
In the second film, Meguro keeps several women as his slaves behind his pregnant wife's back and spends his nights at an S&M bar. There he meets Mayuko, a dowdy bookshop worker who has discovered a wish to submit, and trains her that same night. She leaves her boyfriend, remakes her clothes, face and manner for him, and poses for a book cover he designs. A woman he has neglected storms Mayuko's birthday party and attacks him. Still haunted by Akino, he orders Mayuko to sleep with her former boyfriend in front of him, to feel what Seo felt, then drives the man out in a jealous rage. Mayuko says she always knew he was not really looking at her, and they part; she finds another master. At the birth of his daughter, Meguro pictures the women he has dominated, dressed as nurses, congratulating him.

Meguro’s story
Meguro, an advertising man engaged to Nozomi, promises himself one last fling and seduces Akino. When her husband, Seo, orders him to continue the affair by his rules and report everything, he complies, collaring Akino and having her call him master. Learning that Seo slept with his wife after watching them on hidden cameras, he realises he is jealous, and in love. Nozomi breaks off the engagement, Seo ends the arrangement without a reason, and Akino leaves him, pregnant. Two years later, married to Nozomi after all, he keeps several women as slaves behind her back. He trains Mayuko, then orders her to sleep with her former boyfriend in front of him, to feel what Seo felt, and throws the man out in jealousy; they part. At his daughter's birth he pictures his women as nurses congratulating him.
Aika Yukihiraas Akino Seo
A demure married woman who begins an affair with Meguro and, under her husband's hidden direction, becomes his submissive.
Akino Seo’s story
Akino is a demure married woman when Meguro, looking for one last fling, seduces her, and for months they meet in secret. Once her husband, Seo, has made Meguro continue the affair by his rules, she is hesitant at first, then comes to enjoy the bolder play, until even the sound of the camera shutter excites her. She wears the collar Seo sends and calls Meguro master. When she and Meguro break a taboo in her marital bedroom, Seo watches the recording from his hidden cameras and that night sleeps with her for the first time in a long while. Then she stops answering Meguro's messages and, weeks later, ends it: she is pregnant. Two years later, pushing a baby in a pram, she sees Meguro across a level crossing, and smiles.
Mio Sugiyamaas Mayuko
A shy bookshop worker in the second film who discovers a wish to submit and remakes herself as Meguro's slave.
Mayuko’s story
Mayuko, a dowdy bookshop worker living with her boyfriend, glimpses a bar owner and his slave on her rooftop, reads an S&M novel and finds that she wants to submit. At an S&M bar she meets Meguro, who trains her that same night. She leaves her boyfriend, changes her clothes, learns make-up, and models for the cover he designs for Seo's book, which becomes her secret treasure. When a woman he has neglected storms her birthday party and attacks him, Mayuko tends his injury. Then he orders her to sleep with her former boyfriend in front of him, and throws the man out in a jealous rage. When he tells her why, she says she always knew her master was not really looking at her, and they stop seeing each other.
Yurisaas Nozomi
Meguro's fiancée, a dentist who wants a conventional marriage, later his wife and the mother of his daughter.
Masaki Miuraas Seo
Akino's husband, an author, who makes Meguro continue the affair and report every detail, and never says why.
Why it matters
These two films take the master-and-slave fantasy out of the dungeon and set it inside an ordinary engagement, an ordinary marriage and an ordinary office, then ask what the man playing master actually wants. The issues are consent and control, jealousy and voyeurism, and the distance between a fantasy of power and the need to be loved. The rules Seo lays down, with consent written in and harm ruled out, are more careful than anything the men say about love, and the reason he wants any of it is never given. Released a fortnight apart in the autumn of 2018, both rated R18+, the films continue the 2012 adaptation that made Mitsu Dan's name; the first gave Aika Yukihira, daughter of the 1980s Nikkatsu Roman Porno star Mayumi Terashima, her first lead. By the end the master is the lost one: a new father whose imagination is still full of other women.
