INTIMACY WITH SELF

Intimacy with Self

Self-intimacy is Moonlight’s term for an attentive and honest relationship with one’s own sensations, emotions, preferences, boundaries, imagination, and pace. It is not self-absorption and does not require constant self-confidence. It means becoming more able to notice and respect one’s lived experience before performing for another person.

Intimacy

Intimacy is the experience of being known, met, or connected with an appropriate degree of openness and safety. It may be emotional, intellectual, physical, sensual, sexual, creative, or spiritual. Intimacy is not automatically sexual, and sexual activity is not automatically intimate.
